Chef and Restaurant Owner, Mountain View

I was born in Guang’an, Sichuan, a city known for its rich food culture. After graduating from high school, I joined the military, where I learned the values of teamwork and resilience. Once I returned to civilian life, I followed my passion for cooking by studying Chinese cuisine, with the dream of one day making a name for myself on a larger stage.

In 2009, I moved to the U.S. and started working at a Chinese restaurant, where I put in 10-hour shifts, six days a week. It was a grueling, repetitive routine, but I was determined to push past it. Despite struggling to find opportunities in non-Chinese restaurants, these challenges only fueled my resolve to prove myself.

In 2017, I discovered that Google was looking to hire a Chinese cuisine chef—a chance that could change everything. After four rounds of interviews and cooking tests, I landed the role and was tasked with launching Google’s first Chinese restaurant, JIATING Cafe. With limited kitchen equipment, I adapted by creating healthy, simple-to-execute Chinese dishes. The restaurant was a success, even winning the "Best Taste of the Year" award.

Thanks to JIATING's success, I was promoted to Chef de Cuisine, overseeing multiple restaurants and serving over 800 guests daily.

But last year, I decided to follow my true calling and left Google to open my own restaurant, Fusion Fare, in Santa Cruz. Fusion Fare focuses on blending Chinese and Western flavors with an emphasis on health, innovation, and sustainability.

At Fusion Fare, I combine the bold flavors of Sichuan cuisine with Western techniques, creating dishes that are both exciting and meaningful—like Sichuan-style beef burgers, inventive cold skewers, and fusion-inspired handmade desserts. Each dish tells a cultural story, and my mission is to use food as a way to connect people from all walks of life.


我出生在四川广安,一个美食与文化交织的城市。高中毕业后,我参军入伍,学会了团队协作和坚韧不拔的精神。退伍后,我追随对烹饪的热情,系统学习中餐技艺,梦想有朝一日走向更大的舞台。

2009年,我来到美国,在一家华人中餐馆工作。每天工作10小时,六天无休,生活单调而辛苦。我渴望突破,但尝试进入非华人餐厅时屡屡受挫,这让我更加坚定要靠实力证明自己。

2017年,我得知Google招聘中餐厨师,意识到这是改变命运的机会。通过四轮面试和试菜,我成功拿下职位,负责筹建Google的第一家中餐厅——JIATING Cafe。面对设备限制,我调整思路,研发健康、易操作的中餐菜品,最终让餐厅步入正轨,并荣获“年度最佳味道奖”。

随着JIATING的成功,我被提拔为Chef De Cuisine,管理多家餐厅,每天为800多名用餐者提供服务。去年,我决定追逐梦想,辞去Google工作,在圣克鲁兹开设自己的餐厅——Fusion Fare。这家餐厅以中西融合菜为特色,注重健康、创新和可持续发展

我将川菜精髓与西方烹饪技艺结合,推出了一系列既讲究味道又具文化意义的菜品,如四川风味牛肉汉堡、创意冷串和融合风味手工甜点。每一道菜都是一段文化故事,我希望通过这些美味佳肴,在不同族群之间架起沟通和理解的桥梁。
